Former President Trump Convicted of 34 Felony Counts

I walked from the kitchen with my sloppy joe in tow to CNN’s Jake Tapper announcing that the 45th President had been found guilty of 34 felonies. 34.

Because I enjoy a balanced perspective, I quickly turned to Fox News, where former judge, Jeanine Pirro, said she was appalled, outraged and that anti-Trumpers were happy with the jurors’ renderings. Though I am a Black Democrat, I must admit, I am not. I find no joy in seeing others go through hard moments but to see the former president stand in the hallway of the Manhattan courthouse and boldly proclaim that the trial was rigged, the judge was conflicted and corrupt, I found myself saying, “He still will not repent.” After I said that, I realized I’d judged him but what’s wrong with him saying, “Hey guys, I was wrong. I slept with her while my wife was at home with our four-month-old son, but I was doin’ my thang back then y’all. Please forgive me and Lord, I repent.”  Instead, he stood there hurt and defiant.

Today there will be those who’ll celebrate his conviction. But lest we forget, there are 70 million Americans who voted for him in 2020; many of whom still support him today, and thus, you and I will have to deal with our fellow Americans, some of whom stormed the Capitol on his behalf. We, my dear reader, will have to work alongside, interact, do business and live beside those who are taking his conviction personally. So much so, that they are willing to do harm to those who don’t support him.

Think about that for a moment.

There are people who desire to hurt the 81 million who voted and/or support President Biden. Why you ask? Because of Mr. Trump’s sin.

Donald J. Trump’s sin is why our nation will experience yet another moment of division. And there are those who desire to do bring harm to their fellow Americans…because of that man’s sin.

He sinned. Donald J. Trump.

He had an affair.

He tried to cover it up.

Yet there are those who will go as far as declare civil war…because of that man’s sin.

It’s as if they are taking that man’s sin upon themselves. Reminds me of Someone else who took his sin? Jesus.

Jesus bore his sin. Yet there are those who for the next 42 days will defend his sin while attempting to carry it at the same time. Carry it in the sense there are those who will try to bring harm to others for what that man did in the privacy of a hotel room with someone other than his wife.

And I get it. I’m fully aware Galatians 6 says we are to, “…bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” But we are only commanded to do so as it pertains to restoration.

“…if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

Mr. Trump is not in a position to be restored because he has yet to repent…not publicly anyway. Once he does, then by all means, we should come alongside and restore. But what we also should remember is that “…we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” His supporters cannot appear before the judgment seat on behalf of the former President. He has to do that.

But again, some will take it upon themselves to defend his sin, when in fact we should be embracing Stormy Daniels. And no, I will not refer to her as a porn star because that is what she did; that is not WHO she is. We should be restoring her as she will be the one who needs our prayers and God’s protection. When you think about it, she’s kinda like the woman caught in adultery in John 8:3-11. It reads,

“Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” 6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. 7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” 8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Though Ms. Daniels was single at the time and could not have been the adulteress, she was brought before the court and has been deemed by his supporters as a troublemaker. Yet Mr. Trump was in the hotel room too but again, she will be blamed for their indiscretion.

As the body, we need to not only pray for Mr. Trump, but Ms. Daniels, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Michael Cohen, Judge Juan Merchan, the 81 million who voted for President Biden and everyone who will indirectly impacted by one man’s sin.
